Who doesn't know the song Boys With Luv by BTS feat. Halsey? Even if you don't know, you must have often heard it on the radio. Its music is very catchy, especially Halsey's distinctive voice. The lyrics "Oh my my, oh my my" and "Ooh ah ooh ah ooh ah ah" kept ringing in mrsBuckwheat's ears. Not to mention the music video that is dreamy with the dominance of pastel colors and candy colors. Once again, BTS successfully attracts attention with their comeback.
Buat yang belum kenal BTS, BTS alias Bangtan Sonyeondan alias Bangtan Boys alias Beyond The Scene adalah boy band Korea Selatan beranggotakan 7 orang, yaitu: RM (leader), Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, dan Jung Kook. Debut pada tahun 2013, perkembangan popularitas BTS sangat pesat hingga tahun 2019 ini. Entah karena konsep yang diusung atau musik dan lirik lagu-lagu mereka yang mampu mewakili generasi muda masa kini. Jujur gue pengen tahu.
For those who don't know BTS, BTS aka Bangtan Sonyeondan aka Bangtan Boys aka Beyond The Scene is a South Korean boy band of 7 members. They are RM (leader), Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook. Debuted in 2013, BTS' climb to popularity has been soaring. Whether because of their concept or the music and lyrics of their songs that are able to represent today's young generation. I honestly want to know.
Fire adalah lagu BTS pertama yang gue dengar dan ingat karena video klipnya sering diputar di TV. Chorus-nya sangat mudah diingat. Waktu itu gue nggak ingat wajah para anggotanya, koreografinya, atau pun video klipnya. Namun cukup untuk bikin gue browsing lagu-lagu BTS lainnya di internet. Kesan pertama gue, mereka terlihat sangat muda, halus, dan kecil saat tidak sedang menyanyi. Dan gue juga belum terbiasa dengan riasan boy band yang mencolok. tapi begitu menonton performansi BTS, mereka tampak berbeda. Sangat bersemangat dan kuat.
Fire is the first BTS song that I hear and remember because its music video was often played on TV. Its chorus was very ear-catching. At that time I didn't remember the looks of the members, their choreography, or their music video. But it was enough to make me browse other BTS' songs on the internet. My first impression, they look very young and subtle as persons. And I was also not used to their prominent boy band makeup. but once I watched their performance, they looked very different. Very energetic and powerful.
Awalnya mengusung genre hip hop, BTS lama kelamaan juga membawakan berbagai macam konsep dan genre. Dari semua lagu BTS, 6 lagu terfavorit mrsBuckwheat yaitu Mic Drop, Spring Days, Mikrokosmos, Run, I Need U, dan Not Today. Mau dengerin Mic Drop seharian juga nggak bakal bosan.
Initially rooted in the hip hop genre, BTS eventually also presented various kinds of concepts and genres. From all of their songs, mrsBuckwheat's 6 favourite songs are Mic Drop, Spring Days, Mikrokosmos, Run, I Need U, and Not Today. I can listen to Mic Drop all day.
MrsBuckwheat memang belum bisa disebut A.R.M.Y (nama fansclub resmi BTS) tapi gue sudah punya bias di BTS hehehehe... Bias pertama gue yaitu RM. Gara-gara sering lihat RM di Running Man, gue jadi lebih dulu tahu RM dibanding anggota BTS lainnya. Malah, kalau ditanya "Kamu tahu BTS?", gue jawabnya "Oh... Rap Monster?". Gue paling suka suara rap-nya yang kuat dan mixtape "Mono"-nya. Lalu, bias kedua, Suga dan J-hope hehehehe... Banyak amat biasnya.
MrsBuckwheat isn't an A.R.M.Y (the name of the official BTS fanclub) yet but I already have a bias in BTS ha-ha ... My first bias is RM who is formerly known as Rap Monster. Because I often watched him on Running Man, RM is the first BTS' member whom I known. In fact, if i was asked "Do you know BTS?", I used to answer "Oh ... Rap Monster?". I like his deep and heavy rap (voice) and his "Mono" mixtape the most. Then, my second bias, Suga and J-hope ha-ha... I have too many bias.

Hm... Lalu kenapa BTS begitu diminati? Hmm kalau gue boleh menyimpulkan dengan otak yang biasa-biasa ini, BTS digemari banyak orang karena mereka memiliki konsep yang kuat dan luas. BTS konsisten memberikan harapan di dalam lagu-lagu mereka, walaupun lirik dan musiknya beragam mulai dari sedih hingga marah. Musik, koreografi, dan video klipnya pun terkonsep rapi dan tidak membosankan. Contohnya, "Save Me", kalau ditinjau dari liriknya, bisa saja video klipnya dibuat lebih dramatis. Namun video klipnya yang terlihat sederhana justru mampu menonjolkan musik dan koreografinya yang kuat dengan baik. Konsep yang kuat dan luas ini, memungkinkan BTS untuk terus berkembang tanpa kehilangan ciri khasnya. Selain itu, setiap anggotanya mendapat fokus yang cukup rata. Tidak ada anggota yang terlewatkan atau terlupakan. Mereka terlihat ramah dan halus ketika tidak sedang bernyanyi, lalu setelah itu memberikan penampilan yang kuat dan berenergi yang mengesankan. Penonton akan langsung mengenali musik dan penampilan mereka. Ini pasti BTS...! (Oke, gue sadar gue lagi sok pintar sekarang LOL)
Hm ... Then why are BTS so popular? Hmmm, if I may conclude with my so-so brain, BTS is continuously popular because they have a strong and broad concept. BTS consistently gives hope in their songs, even though the lyrics and music range vary from happy, sad to angry. Their music, choreography and music video were conceptualized neatly and not boring. For example, "Save Me", if viewed from the lyrics, its music video could be made more dramatic like other BTS' dramatic music videos. But, "Save Me" music video that looks simple is actually able to accentuate its powerful music and choreography. This strong and broad concept, allows BTS to continue developing without losing their identity. In addition, each member gets their part equally. No member has been missed or forgotten. They look young, approachable, and subtle when not singing, then they give a strong and energetic performance that impressively exhibits their talents and skills. Audiences will immediately recognize their music and appearance. This must be BTS! (Okay, I know I become a smart a*s now LOL)
